SmartWinch E Series Controller
The controller uses an efficient MOSFET output circuit. These MOSFETs have lower on resistance than the old MOSFETs. They run cooler and the SmartWinch uses less current when being driven slowly.
The microcontroller (mcu) can have its software updated without requiring replacement. It has an internal thermistor for over temperature protection. Also the output circuit has thermistors for monitoring temperature of the MOSFETs. Should an over temperature condition be detected the SmartWinch will shutdown till the temperature has returned to a safe level.
The major change to the controller software is the new setup method
The main reasons for the new setup method are to simplify making adjustments and also problems with 2.4GHz radios. In theory the 2.4 GHz radios should connect Tx to Rx within a couple of seconds. In practice, some can take take over ten seconds. This means that the D model and earlier SmartWinch can enter setup mode if the link is made during the setup mode entry window timing. Settings can be altered this way.
This problem is completely eliminated by the new setup method. The E series SmartWinch must be under Tx control before setup can be entered. It does not matter how long it takes for the Tx/Rx to link. It makes no difference what type of radio is being used. Making adjustments is now quicker and simpler with fewer steps to perform.
